HAX latest in Princeton-related boosts to regional innovation system

In an initiative supported by Princeton University, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced Sept. 16 that venture capital firm SOSV has selected Newark, N.J., to establish the U.S. headquarters for HAX, its program for launching early-stage "hard tech" companies focused on solving difficult and complex technological problems.

At Opening Exercises on Sunday, Aug. 29, Princeton University President Christopher L. Eisgruber welcomed the Class of 2025 and shared with them lessons from a personal health challenge for facing moments of difficulty.

Eisgruber disclosed he was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, a type of benign, non-cancerous brain tumor that can cause loss of hearing, balance or the ability to control facial muscles.

NSF-funded Innovation Corps (I-Corps) hub, formed with partners Rutgers and the University of Delaware plus affiliate universities throughout the region, will broaden diversity in entrepreneurship and cultivate startups that are based on academic research.

Princeton University is the home of a new branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, an international community of distinguished scientists dedicated to preventing and controlling cancer.
