Princeton University professor emeritus and 1962 graduate alumnus James Peebles has been awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics "for theoretical discoveries in physical cosmology."

"This year's prize goes to contributions to our understanding of the evolution of our universe and Earth's place in the cosmos," Göran K. Hansson, secretary general of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said today. 

This summer, the Graduate School embarked on a strategic planning process involving meetings with students and various University stakeholders to assess current professional development programs and resources across campus and to glean ideas that will make professional development an integral part of every graduate student’s experience at Princeton.

Kayothera, an early-stage therapeutics company and Princeton University spinout, is working to give hope to some of the most vulnerable cancer patients. Now the company’s aspirations are being bolstered by significant seed funding received from the New Jersey Health Foundation (NJHF). This is the first sizable deal under a framework established by NJHF and Princeton University.

In front of a collection of industry representatives, Princeton faculty, staff and fellow students in early June, a new sub-team of the Princeton Entrepreneurship Club named Alimtas BioVentures capped a year of unprecedented entrepreneurial work at the University. Alimtas, a self-managed team of Princeton undergrads, formed a multidisciplinary team to perform due diligence and develop a fundraising pitch deck for a technology developed by Princeton faculty.
